"God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom He also made the world ...For this reason, we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard so that we do not drift away from it. For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every violation and act of disobedience received a just punishment, how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?" Hebrews 1:1-2; 2:1-3
Daniel received visions of history and the timetable appointed for Israel through the ministry of angels as an example of the unalterable punishment predicted throughout Israel's history. So, how much more severe retribution will be made on behalf of God's Son is the point of Hebrew's author. Worship has been turned on its head as if emotion could replace obedience. The message of salvation has become empty misleading words that plunge the hearer into hell through prideful works by repeatedly giving oneself to Christ while never really meaning it. The conclusive proof of this aberration is found in the absence of personal transformation.
If Paul were here today, he would say to the church what he wrote to the Corinthians, " ...and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God." 1 Corinthians 2:4-5 No power of God can be present when words are empty, shallow, and proceed from hypocrites.
Here in lies the confusion! Church leaders, in large measure, are reluctant to introduce accountability into church membership. Large numbers look better to the world than authentic Christianity, so the devil has convinced proud seminary graduates that a show is better than pleasing God. God hates mixing true with false.
"Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever?
Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, "I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, "I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
"Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate, says the Lord. "And do not touch what is unclean; and I will welcome you." 2 Corinthians 6:14-17
Or so says the Apostle Paul. Do you think that Paul would speak differently today?
