Atheist scientists act as though they were there at the beginning; they now say the age of the universe is 13.77 billion years. There is no limit to the arrogance of men. How did it all start; we are told with the big bang. When I was a child, the big bang was a theory; somehow, it has become a fact and undebatable. Evolution is not good science for several good reasons. It's not repeatable, there's no I witness account, and therefore, it's not provable.
The opening words of the Bible proclaim, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." (Genesis 1:1) Faith in God is not blind because it is in accord with sound reason. Nothing creates nothing, so the idea that everything came from nothing without a first cause is an argument against reason.
"God said" is the means by which all things came into being. Apart from the revelation of God, via the Bible, man could not know the true nature of the beginning of the universe. We know the origin of all things because God told us. Any belief in the origin of the universe is religious, and apart from divine revelation, it can only be a theory.
The Bible begins with divine revelation, it ends with revelation, and all the way through, it rehearses history from God's point of view, which is revelatory. Revelation 1:3 states, "Blessed is the one who reads, and those who hear the words of the prophecy and keep the things which are written in it; for the time is near."
If we figure the genealogies given us in the Bible, the world is approximately 6,000 years old. Further, we are told in 2 Peter 3:8, "But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day." Perhaps it's coincidental, but if the Lord were to return soon and set up His earthly kingdom, which we are told will last for 1,000 years, that would make one whole week to complete God's plan of redemption.
In Genesis 2:2, 3, we read, "By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on it He rested from all His work which God had created and made."
For six thousand years, God has allowed all people to go their way. Such freedom has produced unimaginable cruelty and pain. Furthermore, God put institutions such as marriage, government, or police to limit the harm. According to the Lord, no one knows the day or the hour of the Lord's return. Jesus also said, "You know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but are you unable to discern the signs of the times?" (Matthew 16:3)
After 1,440 years, men were allowed life to nine hundred years of age, when weather was uniform and pleasant around the planet. Nevertheless, sin and cruelty reigned in the hearts and actions of men so that God destroyed that world with a flood. For fifteen hundred years, most of the world rejected Israel's message of the law and a coming Messiah. For two thousand years, most of the world has rejected the message of Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world.
If we use a thousand years as a day, we could assume that Jesus' return will begin the week's final day. Jesus will reign with a rod of iron, and the Holy Spirit will bring revival upon the human race as never before. The last day will be a Sabbath rest for the earth and complete the week.
The sixth day will conclude by the rejection of Gospel light in the most significant way with the Anti Christ seated upon the throne of Christ for all the world to worship. The abomination of desolation will bring God's wrath for three and one-half years, then the end and the new beginning will come.
If you profess Christianity, are you ready? "And you will be hated by everyone because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved." (Mark 13:13)
If you reject the message of Christ, are you ready? "Nevertheless I say to you that it will be more tolerable for the" land of Sodom on the day of judgment, than for you." (Matthew 11:24)
